The Fabulous Independent Film Festival Is This Weekend

The Sixth Annual Fabulous Independent Film Festival of LGBTQ themed films begins in Sarasota this weekend. The opening film, Closet Monster, will be followed by an Opening Night Party at Burns Court Cinema in downtown Sarasota. The Harvey Milk Festival has partnered with FIFF Founder, Magida Diouri, to bring the LGBTQ community together through film. The festival begins Friday, September 30th and runs through the weekend ending with the final film, Hunky Dory, at 5pm on Sunday.
Other films being screened this year include: Where Are You Going Habibi?, Me, Myself and Her, Lazy Eye, and Love Is All You Need. There will be a free outdoor screeniIng of the film, Real Boy, on Saturday, October 1st at 8:30pm in nearby Payne Park Cafe in the Park.
The Harvey Milk Festival occurs each May at Five Points Park in downtown Sarasota. Harvey Milk Founder, Shannon Fornter, is the driving force behind both events and an outspoken member of the LGBTQ Community in Sarasota. Shannon is a shining light in the city and is admired by all who meet her.
