Bill Knecht is a Realtor serving Tampa / St Petersburg Florida and the surrounding areas

As a young 16 year old, Bill started as Christmas help with JC Penny’s and worked his way up in the company as a menswear buyer and later management until the stores were downsized as bill approached 29 years of age. He had a great experience when he bought his first home in his 20’s and thought if anything ever changes Real Estate is something I would really love to do.
Bill took that opportunity to start his Real Estate career after the downsizing and never looked back. He refers to it as the best bad thing that ever happened to him!
He has now been in the business with his partner Joe Miller in the Tampa area for over 16 years. One of the many things he loves about his career in Real Estate is the opportunity to swoop into someone’s life for one of the biggest most personal experiences and end up being part of the family and life time friends, with each one being very unique with so many different types of people.

Darla Michelsen: What is the biggest benefit you offer your clients?

Bill Knecht: My insights into the entire metro Tampa bay area, I grew up here as multi-generations I know the entire community inside and out, I can’t be really hyper focused on one area. I cover all 4 counties and I know every street, alley way, buildings, schools, landmarks, boundaries and history. I built my business within the LBGT communities and it’s grown from there.

DM: That’s a lot of driving!

BK: Yes, but people are amazed especially someone local, how fast I can get them from one area to the next, on and off the highway and on roads no one knew about.

DM: What do you love most about the area that you live and work?

BK: I love the diversity of Tampa; Tampa was born in diversity with tons of different cultures that came here melting together. It has always been a melting pot of so many different types of people. That includes food and cultural events, the arts and music and things have even blended so much they have become uniquely Tampa. Not to mention the weather!

DM: What is a social cause you are passionate about?

BK: I’ve always been a big supporter of our Tampa International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival and happy supporting children related charities and our office has offered scholarships given to children’s cancer funds, as well as Metropolitan Ministries.

DM: What are your hobbies? What do you like to do with your free time?

BK: We are Very passionate about our yard and horticulture and traveling with our group of travel friends We are known for our grass!

DM: You know Bill in Denver that means something totally different LOL

DM: What are 3 things about you that most people wouldn’t know?

BK: I love to Cook, I have a degree in English literature, I would do just about anything to get on TV and I’m a News Junkie

DM: If you could sing one song on American Idol what would it be?

BK: Save up your Tears by Cher

DM: If you could have any person dead or alive over to visit who would it be and what would you ask them?

BK: It would be my Grandfather on my Dad’s side and I would love to know more about him and the history behind my name.

DM: What is your Super Power?

BK: Bringing people together in situations that would never happen; I can bring oil and water together to make a win win for both. I would call myself a Peace Maker, a benefit in life and Real Estate.

DM: What is your Kryptonite?

BK: Disrespect of others and for yourself.

BK: For example the special needs kids that work at the grocery store, when I see them being disrespected it just kills me.

DM: Finish this statement; if I could turn back time I would have…

BK: I would have made Real Estate my career right out of college and been retired by now.

BK: I want to make sure I’m living in the moment and present for it!
