Positive, Friendly, Genuine, and Comfortable
Huston Dorris is Positive, Friendly, Genuine, and Comfortable
A NAGLREP Social Spotlight by Darla Michelsen
Huston Dorris has been an Austin, Texas Real Estate agent for over 6 years now after spending over 15 years in the Mortgage lending field in 3 different states, doing well in that field and liking it. He was very drawn to having a career in the Real Estate side of the process.
Always having a great appreciation for homes, and having one grandfather who was a Real Estate agent another grandfather who was a commercial appraiser, Huston had great deal of exposure growing up and an early childhood dream to be an Architect like Mr. Brady on the Brady Bunch. Design and all the aspects of how it comes together and owning homes is appealing to him and so moving him forward to make the move. You can tell he is happy with that choice.
Darla Michelsen: What do you think is the biggest benefit that you as an agent offer your clients?
Huston Dorris: My years of experience in Mortgage lending is a major benefit. I have also bought and sold over 6 homes and have done everything from partial to full renovation to a complete new build, I also own 3 rental properties in Austin. So I have seen so much from my own buying and renovation projects from plumbing to roofs and even building new and all the issues they bring with them.
DM: Sounds like your knowledge base is pretty extensive in so many areas, a great value to your clients!
DM: What do you love most about the area that you live and work?
HD: So moving from LA to Austin in 2007 I thought it was going to be a major change or shock and so different but there are things that are very similar as far as the big urban city. The people here in Austin are the strength of the city, they are open minded, think in a positive different way and are just cool and laid back and friendly. In the last 3 to 4 years the press has brought a lot of positive attention to the city of Austin and people want to move here, and was recently named the #1 market to watch. Healthy lifestyle and things are good here and it’s a good Life in Austin!
DM: What are hobbies? Or what do you like to do with your free time?
HD: Love to travel and playing with my son (my Dog) a 85lb Golden doodle, working out, hiking and being with friends

DM: If you could sing one song on American Idol what would it be?
HD: Bridge over Troubled Water … Mary J. Blige Version
DM: If you could have any person dead or alive over whom would it be and what would you ask them?
HD: My Grandfather on my Dad’s side, He was in Real Estate and I think he would be very proud of what I’m doing with my career and it would be great to talk to him about how his Real Estate business was back then and how Real Estate has changed.
DM: What is your Super Power?
HD: I’m very authentic and just real.
DM: What is your Kryptonite?

It was a pleasure having a conversation with Huston and he was so gracious to listen to me go on about my HGTV show ideas, and so complimentary about my spotlight questions. He even had to tease me a couple of times about these questions were not part of the script that John Doucette had sent him!!!! A really genuine guy that Huston Dorris.
