Aging in Place and Multi-Family Development Retirement Options for LGBT communities
Real estate professionals will be a key ally in addressing the needs of our LGBT baby boomers in the coming years. This session will focus on ways that real estate professionals can assist their LGBT constituents in identifying innovative ways to age safely, whether that be aging in place or in a diverse LGBT welcoming development.

3. Building capacity within the LGBT community to assist our aging older adults in our community

Kelly W Kent is Director, National Housing Initiative with SAGE. In this capacity, Mr. Kent leads SAGE’s efforts to increase the LGBT welcoming housing stock across the country while also building cultural competency around the housing needs of LGBT aging older adults. Mr. Kent has spent 20 years working in the affordable housing field. Prior to joining SAGE, Kelly served as Vice President of Strategic Partnerships with LifeWise Renovations as well as serving as Senior Advisor and Vice President of the Organizational Assessment Division for NeighborWorks America and its 247 network organizations. Prior to joining NeighborWorks, Mr. Kent spent 8 years as Senior Program manager with the Corporation for Supportive Housing’s Innovations and Research Unit. Mr. Kent has also spent 5 years of his career working to provide technical assistance through the Department of Housing and Urban Development to housing authorities throughout the country. Kelly completed his undergraduate work in African-American Studies and his Master’s Degree in Urban Planning with a concentration in Real Estate Finance and Housing Policy from the University of Kansas.
