“You may say I’m a dreamer but I’m not the only one …” --John Lennon
Kelly Klein of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices PenFed Realty is as comfortable giving a listing presentation as she is volunteering at her local animal shelter or rocking out on the drums.
A NAGLREP Social Spotlight by By Melissa Kandel, Senior Writer, HSF Affiliates LLC
Kelly Klein is a self-described “chameleon.” The Santa Rosa Beach, FL-based real estate agent adapts to any situation you put her in, and does it with characteristic honesty and charm.
Melissa Kandel: How did you get started in real estate?
Kelly Klein: I was working in the IT industry when my job got outsourced and I was suddenly out of work. A friend told me, “With your personality and IT skills, I think you’d be great in real estate.” So, I listened and went for it. That was the best advice I was ever given.
MK: What is your best asset as a real estate agent?
KK: I am not shy around people. I am like a chameleon when it comes to interacting with friends and acquaintances; I can adjust to their personality quickly because I’m a good reader of what makes people happy.
MK: Speaking of making someone happy, what are you most passionate about?
KK: I love saving money for my buyers! I fight for buyers’ rights all the time and always make sure they get the best deal possible. I’m not afraid to make a correction if I see something is wrong.
MK: What makes you unique as a real estate agent?
KK: As my tagline says, “Not Just Your Ordinary REALTOR®!” I am honest to a fault. I could sell any property but once I discover any major flaw or reason the property shouldn’t be lived in, I will let the buyer know immediately.
MK: How did you end up in Santa Rosa Beach, FL?
KK: After vacationing here in 1998, I fell in love with the area and knew it was exactly where I wanted to be for the rest of my life. I live off Highway 30A in South Walton Beach and it is truly one of the best beaches in the U.S. and in the world. I like the small town atmosphere it offers and of course, the spectacular Gulf view.
MK: What’s your favorite thing to do in Santa Rosa Beach?
KK: I really enjoy going out to eat and listening to the area’s best trio, the Forrest Williams Band.
MK: How do you spend your free time?
KK: I love playing golf and walking on the beach. Oh, not to mention, I love spending time at Alaqua Animal Refuge, a shelter where I walk dogs once a week.
MK: What motivates you in business and in life?
KK: A positive attitude and a willingness to be the best I can be at all that I can do.
MK: If you could have one superpower, what would it be?
KK: To visit people in my family who have passed on.
MK: What’s your kryptonite?
KK: Loss of empowerment.
MK: What is the one social cause you’re most passionate about?
KK: Saving animals that have been abused, neglected or left behind, especially dogs.
MK: What is one thing about you that most people don’t know?
KK: I played drums in a band for a living in my teens and 20s. I still love playing drums and wish I could someday play professionally again.
MK: Let’s stay with the music theme here: If you could sing one song at karaoke, what would it be?
KK: Actually, I can sing. My favorite song to sing is “Imagine” by John Lennon.
MK: Close your eyes and imagine yourself 10 years from now. What do you see?
KK: I see myself more successful than ever with referrals pouring in and satisfied customers and friends to last a lifetime. I will also still be living in Santa Rosa Beach with Chris Bozdech, my spouse of over 27 years, in our ultimate dream home.
MK: What’s your favorite thing about being a real estate agent?
KK: Receiving positive feedback from a satisfied customer or a referral from a satisfied client. Nothing tells me that I’ve done a great job quite like getting a heartfelt compliment and a simple “thank you.”
